Did you know Africa is almost an island?  It is only connected by a narrow strip of land.

Did you know Africa is the most centrally located continent in the world and is almost equally divided in half by the equator?

Did you know around half of the world's diamonds and gold are found in Africa?  The world's largest diamond up until 2007 was the Cullinan, found in South Africa in 1905.  It was around 3000 carats uncut!  This huge diamond was cut into the Great Star of Africa (530 carats) and the Lesser Star of Africa (317 carats) along with other smaller diamonds.  In spite of this fact about Africa, it still remains the poorest continent in the world.

Did you know Africa has a penguin colony?  It is located in South Africa and is so cold here because of the Antarctic currents on its west coast.

Do you know what Africa's largest living reptile is?  It's the Nile Crocodile
